HEY DJ: Here's how to add/modify your DJ Profile on JustCircuit.com!

Since we have such a large number of DJ’s who contribute weekly Top 10 Play lists, play dates, residencies and PodCasts to our community we thought the next best topic for my “How To” series of posts would focus on helping our DJ community add and edit their entries.

If you notice we mentioned PodCasts specifically. We’d decided that since so many of our DJs now offer PodCasts we’d give them a place to highlight theirs.

How To:

• The first step to Add or Edit a DJ profile is to navigate to the MUSIC section of the site. This can be done from any page by selecting MUSIC from the top navigation bar.

• To add a new DJ simply scroll to the bottom of the DJs section and click Add New Record.

• To modify an existing DJ profile type part of the DJ name in the DJs search box and press search.

• Once you find your entry press (Modify Entry) next to the DJ name. The (Modify Entry) link will only appear next to DJs YOU have added using your JustCircuit.com username.
• On the Edit User Defined Table page, fill out as much of the form as possible.
• For Website there are several options that much be selected. First click the URL (A Link To An External Resource ) radio button. Next type in the full URL to your website starting with http://. Finally select the Open Link In New Browser Window?.

• For PodCast click the URL (A Link To An External Resource ) radio button. Next type in the full URL to your PodCast starting with http://. Finally select the Open Link In New Browser Window?.

• For pictures we now offer 2 options.

o The first option is you can select the URL (A Link To An External Resource ) radio button then in the location field you an type the full path to a picture on another website.

o Option 2 is uploading a picture to the JustCircuit.com DJ Profile Pictures folder. To upload a picture to our site click the File ( A File On Your Site ) radio button, then select Upload New File.

o Next choose User Files/DJ Profile Pictures/ from the File Locations drop down.
o Press the Browse button, then find the picture you’d like to upload from the computer you’re currently connecting from. One you’ve found the picture click OK or Open.
o Finally click the Upload Selected File link.

• Once you’re completely finished filling out the DJ Profile form select the Update button at the very bottom of the page.

Hope this latest installment simplifies the process of Adding or Updating DJ Profiles on the site. We’ve really tried to make this process as simple and painless as possible.

How To: Join and Manage Forums by Email

We’ve been working very hard on a great new feature that we believe will bring new life to the Forums section. This new feature is the JustCircuit ListServ and it gives our users the ability to subscribe to our forums and receive updates via email. It also allows you to respond or sent new messages to the ListServ via email and have those messages reflected in our forums.

This next installment in our “HOW TO” series describes how to signup for this free new service, how to use it and how to control when messages are delivered.

Signing up for the JustCircuit ListServ is extremely easy. If you’re not already a registered user of JustCircuit.com you will need to register to take part in our forums. Simply click the Register link (pictured below) just under the top navigation bar and follow the registration wizard.

Registered users must be logged onto the website. Once you’re logged on navigate to the Forums section by selecting the Forums link on the top navigation bar (pictured below).

Next select the General Discussion message forum.

From the General Discussion forum view select the checkbox next to “Click to subscribe to this forum.”

Once you select the checkbox you will notice that it changes to “You are subscribed to this forum. Click to unsubscribe.”. Congratulations you’ve just subscribed to the forum and will start to receive updates via email. The default delivery setting to receive messages as soon as they are posted to the site. You can modify how frequently receive emails by changing your email delivery options (below).

Users no longer interested in receiving emails can simply uncheck the box and we will no longer send messages.

Changing Email Delivery Options
Once you’ve subscribed to receive forum updates via email you may modify your email delivery options. Modifying your email subscription type allows to you to change if and when emails are delivered, you can select from 4 options: Disabled, Instant, Daily Digest and Weekly Digest.

•    Disabled will disable email updates. This is the same as unsubscribing.
•    Instant will send messages immediately after they are posted to the site.
•    Daily Digest will deliver a single message daily containing all new messages.
•    Weekly Digest will deliver a single weekly message containing all new updates.

To change Email deliver options navigate to the Forums section of JustCircuit.com then select My Profile just under the top navigation menu.

From the profile window select the My Preferences tab then click the Subscription Type dropdown to configure your email delivery setting. Once you have made your configuration change click the Save button.

Users who wish to stop receiving messages from the JustCircuit ListServ can set their Subscription Type to Disabled or they can click the “You are subscribed to this forum. Click to unsubscribe.” checkbox from the General Discussion forum view.

Using the ListServ
Once you’ve subscribed to the JustCircuit ListServ using it is extremely easy. Users can interact with our forums in several ways. You can login to JustCircuit.com to read, post and reply to messages directly on our website or you can read, post and reply via email.

Posting and replying to messages are the same as any other message. Simply compose email from any email client. On the to line type JC-ListServ (at) JustCircuit.com, title, type your message and send. Please note the email address listed has been modified to keep SPAM spiders from copying it. Remove extra spaces and replace (at) with @.

Replying to threads is just as simple. Click the Reply button, type your response remove any previous email thread or history and click send. When replying to messages there are 2 important rules, which should be followed:

• When replying to messages ALWAYS remove all thread history (previous message contents) prior to sending.
• NEVER modify the message subject. Modifying the message subject will cause the forums to create a new message thread rather then replying an exiting thread.

Simple Posting Guidelines
JustCircuit is an information portal and as such we would like to keep the flow of information free and unencumbered. In order to help us do we have ask that you follow these simple guidelines when posting:

•    Keep in mind that this is a public forum.
•    Unfounded lies and slander will not be tolerated.
•    Keep your discussions civil.
•    Event and Self-promotion is fine, but do not SPAM the forum. Post your upcoming event information once.

Occasional updates are permitted, however if we see you sending updates weekly and/or daily we will take action.
Users who can’t abide by these rules will be blocked from posting publically.

Celebrate Pride Weekend aboard the BIGGEST Queen in Long Beach

The iconic ocean liner will host Proud Mary Weekend May 19 and 20 with its Poseidon party Saturday night, special brunch and overnight packages

LONG BEACH, Calif.; April 23, 2012— Rainbow flags will fly aboard the Queen Mary May when it hosts its first Proud Mary Weekend May 19 and 20 in Long Beach. Planned to coincide with Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride, the second largest pride celebration in the nation, the ship’s festivities will feature Poseidon, an off-the-charts dance party on Saturday night, followed by a special brunch on Sunday.

Poseidon to Feature World Class Entertainment

Taking place in a three-story event hall that formerly housed one of the Queen Mary’s enormous boilers, Poseidon promises to be the hottest dance event of the weekend. Complete with aerial performers, go-go dancers and a few other surprises, party-goers will be treated to music by DJs Manny Lehman and Scotty K spinning the top dance beats. DJ Kimberly S to Spin at Pride Sunday Brunch

Following Poseidon, weary revelers can soak in some sun and scenery from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Queen Mary’s first-ever Pride Sunday Brunch on the ship’s Verandah Deck. Cost is $24.95 per person and includes a light brunch buffet, a complimentary mimosa or Bloody Mary, panoramic views of Long Beach harbor and the soulful house and trance sounds of guest DJ Kimberly S.

(Story from NY Post, April 20, 2012) New York house DJ Danny Tenaglia has dramatically announced he is pressing pause on his career. The 51-year-old club legend and Grammy-nominated producer — who had residencies in the 1990s at New York’s biggest megaclubs Twilo, Tunnel and the Roxy — said he is “resigning” and left a farewell message on his Facebook page Tuesday that shocked the electronic-music world. “I have seen the mountaintop as a DJ and I just need to STOP and smell the roses of my life and simply try to Grow Up and BE who I really am,” he wrote. Tenaglia also claims that he can’t afford his New York loft. “I know many people think I am wealthy, but I am not! I have lived well and have very nice things to show for my earnings, but I cannot stop working!!” Tenaglia wrote. He said the final straw came after he flew back from Miami and lost his “murse,” containing his passport and keys, at the airport. He’s hanging up his headphones at a time when electronic DJ Tiësto took home $20 million last year, and deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Avicii are earning $1 million a gig. Sources tell us, “He’s been DJing for 30 years, has traveled the world and is burned out.” Tenaglia says his “last” gig will be at Pacha New York April 28, and many house music luminaries will be there to support.

With over 1500 nominations received in just the first two weeks, the 7th Annual JustCircuit Awards™ and Circuit Hall of Fame™ is well on its way to becoming the most successful Awards cycle ever. Thirty-eight categories seek to recognize the best of the Circuit

Nominations for the 7th Annual JustCircuit Awards™ and JustCircuit Hall of Fame™ will be taken from the general public beginning January 1, 2012 via the JustCircuit.com website and will continue throughout the month of January. The public will have the opportunity to submit their nominations in thirty-eight categories, which include DJ/Remixer of the Year, Best Podcast, Circuit Party of the Year and Best Up-and-Coming DJ among others.

The JustCircuit Awards™ recognize the best artists, events and products from Circuit and LGBT events worldwide. The top five most nominated in each category will be placed on the official ballot eventually to be voted upon by members of JustCircuit.com who have registered with the website prior to February 1, 2012. Voting will continue throughout the month of February, and winners to be revealed at the JustCircuit Awards™ Gala in Miami, Florida on Sunday, March 25, 2012, the final day of the Winter Music Conference. The Gala will be open to the public.

Registering your membership on JustCircuit.com is free and simple. Only the most recent ballot submitted by any registered member will be counted. JustCircuit boasts over 5200 registered members as of December 1, 2011.
Last year's winners include DJ Paulo, who won "DJ/Remixer of the Year", as well as DJ Gustavo Scorpio of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who won "Best Up-and-Coming DJ". Scorpio most recently headlined White Party Week Muscle Beach and the rebroadcast of his set recently pushed its way to #1 in the world on Podomatic.com and reached #1 in the competitive House music category.

Hi Everyone! I'm about to start a new project that will culminate in a twelve hour durational video performance focusing on a series of ideas relating to the period of gay dance music between 1985-2000.

I’m looking for those tracks that really helped define the sound that develops/developed into tribal/circuit/gay underground house. I’m looking particularly for those tracks that could get you onto a dance floor, get you to keep going even after hours and hours of dancing and those tracks that made you stay for just one more song. They can be anything from peak hours to when things go dark and deep, the songs that come during the awakening period in the morning and those songs that finish the party out.

Part of this project is hearing from you, whether you are a dance floor enthusiast, dj, promoter, event organizer... it doesn't matter, as long as you have a relationship to that period in time and you have some tracks that, for you personally, strike a chord.

Revisit White Party Week 2011 in JustCircuit.com's newly available and spectacular photo galleries consisting of hundreds of pictures from events held last month over Thanksgiving Weekend. White Party Week benefitted Care Resource, South Florida's premier HIV/AIDS organization and featured some of the Circuit's most talented artists from around the world. The White Party was held on Friday, November 25 at the Miami Seaquarium, and was the first time in over a quarter century that the legendary event was held outside the gates of Villa Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, just a short distance away. Featured DJs were Joe Gauthreaux and London's DJ Pagano, with various performances throughout the night along with an incredible fireworks display.

Saturday's Heatwave Pool Party featured DJ Kio Kio at the National Hotel (Host) and Saturday Night's White Starz Party at Mekka Nightclub featured London legendary DJs Jack Chang and Wayne G, along with Hawaii's own DJ Bugie in the VIP.

The Circuit loves White Party Week in Miami, and that rang true at Sunday's Muscle Beach party in South Beach, steps away from the Atlantic Ocean, as thousands of party goers enjoyed the talents of DJs Michael Tank and headlining DJ Gustavo Scorpio of Brazil, who kept the party hopping all afternoon and well into the evening, featuring many new music debuts of his latest mixes, including Gloria Estefan's "Hotel National", Diva E's "JustCircuit" and Jason Walker's "Raise Your Hands". JustCircuit's podcasts featuring the rebroadcast of the entire Muscle Beach set shot to #1 in the world of Podomatic, passing thousands of other podcasts in a matter of days. The rebroadcast also jumped to #1 in the House music category and remained there for several days as a worldwide audience enjoyed the sounds.

White Party Week benefits Care Resource, South Florida's premier HIV/AIDS organization which provides medical, prevention and scientific study services to those in our community effected and affected by HIV/AIDS. DJ/Producer AFROJACK is nominated for second Grammy Award; Leona Lewis' "Collide" remix puts him over the top

AFROJACK NOMINATED FOR SECOND GRAMMY AWARD

December 2, 2011 (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) - Afrojack, one of the world's most in demand producers and DJ's, has been honored by The Recording Academy of America who have nominated the superstar for his second Grammy Award.

Afrojack is nominated as 'Best Remixer' for his work on Leona Lewis' song 'Collide'. The remix, which was released last July on J Records, became an instant sensation and is still riding a wave of success in clubs and through radio airplay across the globe.

When given the news yesterday, an elated Afrojack had this to say:
"I can’t believe the news!! To be nominated again is incredible! This is a real honour. Thank YOU!!" – Afrojack

Afrojack was nominated (and subsequently won) his first Grammy in the same category this past February for his and David Guetta's remix of Madonna's 'Revolver'.

Afrojack also worked on several high profile songs this year that have been recognized by The Recording Academy with Grammy nominations. Although not personally nominated for his work, he is proud to have had a hand in these significant records.

Chris Brown's 'Look At Me Now' which is vying for 'Best Rap Performance' and 'Best Rap Song' respectively (Afrojack is a co-producer on the song).

'Nothing But The Beat' by David Guetta, which is up for 'Best Electronica Album' (Afrojack is a co-producer on the songs; 'Titanium', 'Lunar', 'The Future' and 'I Just Wanna').

The 54th annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast on CBS on February 12, 2012. Afrojack will attend the ceremony in Los Angeles.

Fire Island inferno destroys clubs and several other structures.

The Pavillion, Sip N Twirl, La Fontaine, a beach house, and several other structures burned down Monday night. The cause of the fire is unknown. At least 19 fire departments were dispatched from Pines, Ocean Bay Park, Davis Park, Point O' Woods, Cherry Grove, Ocean Beach, Fair Harbor, Saltaire, Kismet, East Islip, West Islip, Hagerman, Sayville, Bellport, Great River and Bay Shore departments responded (Newsday).

Fire Island residents vow to rebuild, "After 26 years of being a Community member of the Pines, I was not prepared to come home from Florida tonight to face such devastating news. I do, however, know that those of us who have always believed in the fortitude and resiliance of its people will once again work again to rebuild and help those who have suffered properly losses to bring our haven back to life. Thank you SO much to, NOT ONLY the FIP Fire Fighters who are on the island this late in the season, who are there to protect our homes & businesses, but to ALL of the responding communities' Fire Departments like Cherry Grove, Ocean Beach, and all the other island departments who responded, AND those who flew in their boats across the bay to join forces to fight these fires. I wish I had been there to assist. I am SO SO grateful no one was hurt and especially relieved this didn't happen in the peak of the season, as that would have been horrifying. Grass Roots Gay Rights/West Announces Fundraising Results for REAL BAD XXIII

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. November 10, 2011 -- Grass Roots Gay Rights West (GRGR/West), producers of the annual REAL BAD fundraising party that follows San Francisco’s world-renowned Folsom Street Fair, today announced the fundraising results from REAL BAD XXIII which was held on Sunday, September 25, 2011. REAL BAD XXIII was a sell-out success, raising $180,000 for LGBT and HIV/AIDS beneficiaries that serve the community. As of REAL BAD XXIII, over $1.4 million has been donated to community beneficiary organizations over the event’s history.

The beneficiary organizations that will share the funds raised, which include 100 percent of the money collected from the general admission ticket sales are:

Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center
A provider of education, support, empowerment and advocacy for Asian and Pacific Islander communities — particularly those living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS.
Bay Area Young Positives
An organization that helps young people, ages 14 to 26, living with HIV/AIDS live longer, happier, healthier, more productive and quality-filled lives through peer-based services.
Native American AIDS Project
A provider of HIV/AIDS prevention case management, HIV case management, peer advocacy and traditional healing services to the San Francisco Bay Area’s Native American population.
No Bully
An organization that develops and provides strategies that leverage student empathy to bring schools innovative, long-term solutions to bullying.
Project Open Hand
A provider of food and nourishment dedicated to improving the lives of people with HIV/AIDS, seniors and the home-bound or critically ill.
San Francisco Suicide Prevention
A provider of emotional support, assistance and intervention as necessary to persons in crisis and those impacted by them, without regard to race, age, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
