Las Vegas, January 2: My Moment with Eartha Kitt: JustCircuit Media Goddess Jessika Sterling shares reflections of the legendary Eartha Kitt, who passed away on Christmas day.

It was a cold Chicago evening, me and the boys grabbed a cab downtown to a small piano bar featuring the cast of Cinderella singing a few songs on their night off while touring through the windy city...and Eartha Kitt herself was supposed to be there
...how can any respectable gay man miss an opportunity to see "THE catwoman" (in a close tie with Julie Newmar...Julie had the look, Eartha had the style and voice).
The dark little lounge was packed to standing room only with every fag over 30yrs old and the slightest clue, and respect, for who the hell Eartha Kitt is. Well, there was Debbie Gibson there also for those 20 somethings who actually liked 90's pop.
There I am, one of 30 guys standing in the hallway just off the stage, as the door opens down the hallway and out walks Eartha Kitt behind 3 of her "guard-fags" and carves her way through the gauntlet of nelly boys gasping with their hands over their mouths in a chorus of lightly muffled sqweals and "oh my god, she's sooo tiny".
My heart tightens as she gets closer and closer, almost in slow motion my mind races through every episode of batman I saw and how much I wanted that skin tight catwoman outfit and my hair all snatched up in a fierce ponytail like her....
then, out of no where, I look down and there's Eartha Kitt stopping right in front of me...what is she looking at... what made her stop...why is everyone looking at me????
...and then it happens. She stops, turns, looks right at me in the middle of this forest of tall attractive, well-dressed gay men and reaches up. Her hands graze my cheeks as she fondles the collar of my black p-coat and sweater and runs her long red finger nails down my grey scarf ( Valentino, by the way) ...I'm in total shock!!!! My friends are absolutely peeing their pants...everyone in eye sight is frozen
...what is she doing to this guy...does she know him...is he "somebody"???
...and then she looks into my eyes and in that Miss Kitt voice you'd totally expect hear she says "lovely coat dahhhhhlllliinnnggg" ...and then purrs.
(OOOOHHHHH, MY GOD!!!!!!....she touched me!!!!....AND PURRED....Eartha purred to me....Eartha purred to me....Eartha purred to me!!!!)
That's what my mind was saying...but out of my mouth came.."why thank you so much Miss Kitt"....with my best sparkly smile.
And then its over, she gives me a wink, and on she goes to the roar of her adoring fans.
She actually winked at me again during her number, every guy in the place had me pegged as either her boy-toy or one of her dressers, but I didn't care...she stopped at me!!!
It was an amazing night... I usually don't get star struck... but she's a legend.
I'll remember that night forever... what a great little moment.
Thank you Miss Kitt... I'll miss you!!!
xoxo
